Independence Day is celebrated yearly on 15 August as an national holiday in India celebrating the nation's independence from the British regime on 15 August 1947, the day when the provisions of the 1947 Indian Independence Act, which shifted legislative sovereignty to the Indian Assembly and established a state free of everyone.
On 15 August 1947, the first and newly elected Prime Minister of India, Pandit ji Nehru raised the Indian national flag above in the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. On every Independence Day, the currently Prime Minister have to raise the flag of nation and gives an address to the nation citizens.
Significance
India's Independence Day is significant as it stands as a constant reminder of the sacrifices that are made by freedom fighters made to get independence from British rule.
